UK based Benson Box has returned to Heidelberg for its latest press investment after a period of buying rival equipment. The company’s latest acquisition is a Speedmaster XL 105-6L with both UV and infra red drying.
Managing director Mark Kerridge says: “Four or five years ago we felt there were stronger brands in the market, but with the XL 105 Heidelberg has taken a significant step change forward. It is productivity which will carry the business forward and that is what this press can deliver with better makeready, uptime and speed.”
The new press will run alongside three other Heidelbergs and two Roland machines at the group’s Bardon plant, which manufactures food cartons for many of the big names in this sector. The plant produces about 750M cartons a year.
Mark Kerridge, who also heads up the Cartons section of the BPIF, adds: “Environmental impact is important, so having a press that can run with low alcohol, uses energy efficient UV lamps with better reflectors and reduces waste has appeal to us.”
