Heidelberg boosts digital print portfolio

8 August 2011

In Germany, Heidelberg has acquired CSAT, a specialist supplier of digital printing systems and consumables for the packaging industry.

The takeover – for an unisclosed price - expands Heidelberg’s existing digital print portfolio for the packaging sector and gives it access to technology and expertise in drop-on-demand inkjet (DoD) and electrophotography. Hans Mathea, the former owner of CSAT, will continue as managing director.

CSAT's current portfolio based on dry toner technology includes the DTS 1200 printing system with a resolution of 1,200dpi which is used in the pharmaceuticals industry for inline or offline printing of blister packs and package inserts. The ITS 600 DoD system, with a resolution of 600dpi, is for high quality and variable full-colour label printing.
