‘Green’ label launched

30 June 2009

Spanish thermoplastic polyurethane producer Merquinsa has launched a Bio TPU label material, based on high performance, renewable and recyclable resins, for consumer products such as footwear, sport and electronics equipment.

Marketed under the Pearlthane ECO brand for plastics and Pearlbond ECO for adhesives, Bio TPU is said to be a renewable sourced and recyclable material (plant based: bio-content from 20-90 per cent according to ASTM D6866) with properties very similar to petroleum based TPUs, “offering outstanding flexibility, endurance and mitigating global warming”.
