Gravure Star at drupa

10 June 2008

Excellent print quality and quick and reliable job change-overs are claimed for the new Heliostar S gravure press, which Windmöller & Hölscher exhibited at drupa 2008.

The Heliostar S can be fitted with up to 12 print stations and is designed for “perfect print quality” at speeds of up to 400 m/min. The SL version is designed to use shafted bases while the SH version uses shaftless hollow shells. Maximum printing width is 1,300 mm with a print repeat of 920 mm.

Standard equipment includes high power direct servodrives for each station to provide precise register accuracy at all times, including when accelerating or decelerating. Features include side change sleeve type impression rollers, doctor blades with fast adjustment and quick release, and ergonomic operator controls.

W&H says the Heliostar S has already been sold to many customers in Europe, Asia and Australia. The machine at drupa will be shipped to a German customer after the show.
