‘Gravure quality’ from National Flexible

25 January 2011

Film packaging specialist National Flexible claims to be the UK’s industry’s first user of Kodak’s innovative Flexcel NX technology printing technology.

The Bradford-based company printed three flow-wrap designs for Dr Organics’ range of soap bars using the new technology and the Digicap screening process, which is said to enable flexo plates to reproduce detail to the same standard as that of gravure cylinders.

The highly detailed Dr Organics’ packaging artwork required the very best quality print to ensure that the packs had strong stand-out shelf appeal, as well as exactly matching the existing colour palette of other packaging formats within the range.

National Flexible worked on the project in conjunction with partners Kodak and Reproflex3.

Pioneered by Kodak, the Flexcel NX system is claimed to allow for true 1:1 image reproduction, improved fine detail, excellent ink transfer and stronger colour density. Long-term cost savings over conventional printing are also promised.
