A hybrid eight colour Novaprint 680 gravure and web offset press line was launched at Drent Goebel's recent open house.
The press, built for Middle East label and flexible packaging printer Tadbik, was demonstrated printing flexible substrate in-line with UV gravure followed by six UV web offset units, then a further UV gravure unit. It uses exchangeable sleeves for the plate and blanket cylinders to facilitate change-over.
High quality transparent shrinksleeve material was also printed with a UV gravure metallic colour, followed by a six colour shrink packaging image in UV web offset. Finally, the last gravure tower printed a high solid white backing on top of all the colours.
The heat sensitive substrate was protected by use of cold UV lamps.
