German converter invests in Titan slitter

26 September 2008

Titan clinched the sale of an SR8 twin-shaft cantilever slitter rewinder to the German converter, Salpack at the drupa 2008 exhibition.

Located in Merching, southern Germany, Salpack serves the domestic market for banding and packaging materials for the graphic, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, as well as food packaging.

The company’s main production of banding is in narrow widths using materials such as PE, OPP, PETP, paper with different coatings or combinations of several materials.

“We were very impressed with the performance and features of the Titan SR8 slitter rewinder demonstrated at drupa, and with the support provided by Bobst Group Deutschland,” says Salpack’s Christian Wagner.

The SR8 cantilever slitter rewinder has been a huge success for Titan, with more than 170 machines now sold worldwide. It has an advanced, modular, twin-shafted, cantilevered design and runs at speeds of up to 700 m/min for web widths of 1,050–1,350 mm and 600 m/min for up to 1,850 mm depending on materials processed. The slit widths can be as narrow as 15 mm.
