Gentle strapping for corrugated board

8 May 2013

Further improvements to the motor systems and a simplified user interface are said to make strapping corrugated board with Mosca's UATRI-2 XT fully automated inline strapping machine extremely gentle, fast and reliable.

Readily integrated in automated high speed corrugated production lines, the high performance machine now features completely upgraded motor management technology. With automatic set-up, the machine automatically configures torque and other motor parameters to match the size of the load. It also calculates the time it will take from detection of the load by the photoelectric barrier to operation of the required strapping functions.

The UATRI-2 XT adjusts motor parameters to provide a slower, more powerful feed for large bundles and a lower power, faster feed for small bundles. In addition, the operator can manually adjust the feed parameters at any time for delicate products.

A touch panel with a revised user interface simplifies control of the new model. Different safety levels can be enabled according to the operator's skill and experience. There is no need to interrupt production to manually change strap coils. The machine is equipped with two coil holders, so that as one strap coil runs out, the other strap is automatically welded on to the end.

According to Mosca With 1,000 coil changes annually, this avoids around 50 hours machine downtime, equating to a production loss of 75,000 bundles that could be strapped in this time at a rate of 25 bundles per minute in single-shift operation.
