‘Nanoscale layers on films - From research to innovative products’ was the subject of the technical conference at the recent International Converting Exhibition ICE 2007, in Munich. Staged by the Fraunhofer IVV and the European Metallizers Association, the event covered topics including ‘Market and applications for flexible, transparent barrier films’, by Oliver P Vetter, of Alcan Packaging Kreuzlingen; ‘Nanoscale layers for the improvement of barrier properties’, by Prof Dr Horst-Christian Langowski, of the Fraunhofer IVV; and ‘Latest developments in sputtering thin films for flexible transparent barrier films’, Dr Hans-Georg Lotz, of Applied Materials.
Dr. Christian Oehr, of the Fraunhofer IGB, covered ‘Improved emptying properties of packaging systems via plasma surface treatment’, and Andreas Roos, from Paul Lippke Handels, discussed the ‘Latest developments in measuring the oxygen or water vapour barrier of films’.
