Fratelli Roda aims Accucheck at new markets

5 December 2012

Packaging and print company Fratelli Roda is the first Swiss firm to install a Bobst Accucheck unit, for in-line 100% quality checking of its folding carton production. The company, located in Taverne, expects the new unit will help it acquire new customers, especially in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, and the Far East.

Franco Roda, general director, affirms: “In-line quality control saves our customers’ time and guarantees them that 100% of the production we supply them has been checked. There is a market for this in pharmaceuticals where, in Japan for example, it is extremely important.”

Placed in-line with a Bobst Expertfold or Masterfold folder-gluer, the Accucheck checks each carton for printing defects, oil or water marks, ink splashes, carton damage or scratches, bad cut quality, or colour variation, and prevents any cartons with such defects from reaching the packing line.

Fratelli Roda is actively promoting Accucheck to both existing and potential customers. “We want them to know the features of this innovative technology, and to understand the substantial advantages it will bring them,” says Roda. “Production is 100% checked and not just partially or statistically controlled.”
