Four colour process to suit cigarettes

17 July 2004

From the year 2005, in some EU countries it will be mandatory for cigarette packaging to be marked with coloured graphic warnings. These are images which dramatically exemplify the hazards of smoking. In addition to these graphic warnings some cigarette brands periodically supplement their designs with special four colour promotional illustrations.

To provide printers with a solution that enables them to achieve top results quickly and easily, Sicpa-Aarberg has developed a new set of four process colours for rotogravure printing half tone illustrations. The Masterblend series 50 is nitrocellulose binder resin based and said to feature very high runnability and trouble-free handling. The inks cure quickly and exhibit perfect print-out properties, the company states. Printers who are already using the new inks are said to have reported excellent results.
