Following the opening of its European sales office in Brussels earlier this year and its IPEX announcement of a digital printing alliance with HP to distribute HP Indigo presses in China, leading Chinese pre-press supplier Founder is to launch packaging design software in Europe later this year.
Designated ePack it is dedicated to the folding carton and corrugated packaging industries, providing structural design tools with an interactive 3D preview function as well as an extensive library of 300 box types. Marketing and product management director International Business Division Patrick Kearns said: “To be beta tested in May and June it includes packaging layout, die cutting and proofing modules.”
Added Derek Fearn, director and general manager (Europe): “We have six big packaging companies who want to evaluate the software. It will be driven by the people we recruit to distribute it – I believe it will have to be through specialist companies.
“I do have a price advantage and we are offering good margins to the resellers. As we are new to the market it means I can go back to Founder with a wish list.”
