Folder gluer doubles carton capacity

14 April 2005

Key Capital Equipment recently supplied an Anter 1100 folder gluer to the Boxfast folding carton plant in Birmingham, UK. The unit is already providing a return on investment by doubling capacity for the the company.

Boxfast director Bob Williams comments: "We had become increasingly aware that our previous folder gluer was fast approaching the end of its life, and started looking for a replacement. One of the main criteria was that a new machine could facilitate the growing trend for more complex pack design. After several meetings with KCE, I was convinced that the Anter 1100 unit was the way forward in terms of build quality, reliability and value for money."

In addition to straight line cartons, the Anter will handle crashlock and double wall boxes, as well as four and six-corner packs. The enhanced model uses timed rotary hooks to ensure accurate and square folding of the back flaps, and enables pre-folding of the first and third crease on crash lock cartons.

The machine operates at speeds up to 300m/min and handles cartonboard up to 600g/m2 or E-flute corrugated. It can also produce CD wallets and files with inner pockets.
