Foil’s versatility suits Newfoil

UK independent stockist of labelstocks and hot stamping foils Newfoil says that API's new PG hot stamping pigment foil is solving the traditional difficulty of providing a high performance general purpose foil suitable for most label substrates and applications.

Newfoil MD Peter Taylor comments: "With our customers we have trialed PG across all types of self-adhesive labelstock and found that it prints superbly on all qualities of paper and synthetic products such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polyester and vinyl. Fine detail, solid panels or a combination of both can be achieved with PG, and its low temperature operating range enables faster setup thus reducing machine downtime."

He adds: "A huge advantage with PG is that this one grade enables label printers to reduce their stock range of foils in other qualities on a 'one product suits all' basis".

According to API Foils, PG has an easy release and excellent adhesion. Depending on the machine type and application, it typically has activation at 85oC with an operating temperature of 100-150degC. It also has good resistance to water, plasticiser migration, and to wines and spirits. It is non-toxic and "meets stringent compliance and legislation across numerous industry standards worldwide".
