Flexotecnica hat trick at Alfaplas

19 December 2013

Following the success of its existing Flexotecnica presses (an 8-colour F8G gearless and an 8-colour Chronos sleeved gearless machine), UK based Alfaplas has now installed a further 8-colour EVO XG sleeved gearless model from the Italian manufacturer.

With a 1,600mm print width and a 1,000mm maximum repeat length, the new machine offers "huge flexibility" and gives the company an extra press with a large print repeat capability. It features Flexotecnica's in-house developed AIF Automatic Impression Setting system that "dramatically reduces" setup waste, as well as increased numbers of Human Machine Interfaces for improved operator-friendliness.

In-line automatic solvent control, anti-static equipment and in-line slitting prior to rewinding are also provided on the press.
Alfaplas, located in Hereford, is part of the French-based Sphere Group of companies with operations located in a number of EU Countries. The UK facility supplies packaging to markets including tissue overwrap, beverage multi-wrap, snack food packaging as well as other flexible packaging applications.Sphere has invested more than £6 million in Alfaplas in recent years.
