First linerless label licensee

16 June 2004

Sessions of York is the first licensee for Catchpoint's 'waste-free' self adhesive label launched at the Total exhibition (see April issue), which is made without backing web or liner.

Sessions has been working with Catchpoint as a development partner researching the appli-cation and printing opportunities for web or liner-free self adhesive labels. Under the licence, it will now provide the new technology to its customers.

The Catchpoint process is claimed to provide the considerable environmental and financial benefits that accrue from not having a backing web or liner. Raw material costs are cut, waste product is virtually elimin- ated, storage requirements are lessened and shipping costs are minimized, the company states. The process works with varying grades of paper and wrapped, patched, case end and catch/weigh labels.

Mark Sessions, chairman and managing director of Sessions of York, comments: "Both our Label and Machine Divisions are working closely with Catchpoint to perfect the production and application process. This development will have a significant impact on the self adhesive label market. Catchpoint labels will become an important part of the services we offer our clients."
