‘Fire resistant’ PE packaging

4 June 2010

A ‘flame retardant’ PE has been launched by broker of film and bags Polythene UK. The company claims it will provide heat and fire protection, ‘but more importantly provide a safer packaging solution that can potentially save lives’.

Managing Director James Woollard states: “If our flame retardant polyethylene ever caught fire, it would put the flames out itself immediately and, more importantly, would not give off any toxic fumes in doing so. It’s a real life saver.”

He says the company can now supply all of its general PE packaging products such as pallet covers and plasterboard pallet covers in the material. It can also be used with the Polylite and Polyair materials.
