Falconer Print & Packaging will be the first company in the UK to take delivery of a Diana X folder gluer with a Braille unit to meet the demands of its pharmaceutical customers.
Managing director Hadyn Bradbury says: “Pharmaceuticals represent over 30% of our turnover and the volume is growing. Braille is a prerequisite, and to date we have produced it in the diecutting section of our production facility in Elland. The tooling costs, to produce Braille this way, are very expensive. We are confident that, running Braille on the Diana X will be considerably more cost effective, particularly on runs of small/medium volume.”
The Braille unit is situated immediately after the alignment station, ensuring positioning is exact. It is a male-female method using an etched plate punched to create the Braille emboss. The flexibility of the system enables it to emboss on any panel and on any size of carton with multiple lines of information. Even with the Braille unit running, the Diana X can still produce at speeds of over 100,000 cartons/hour.
The new Diana X will be delivered to Falconer’s Elland plant in March and after full commissioning it will operate on a double day shift.
