European plant for major Indian group

22 February 2011

India’s Uflex Group is to invest in a large manufacturing facility in Poland - the company’s first European manufacturing project.

The first phase will be the setting up of an 8.7m wide, 500m/min biaxially oriented polyester (BOPET) film line and a high-barrier plasma enhanced vacuum metallising plant near Poznan. According to Uflex, it will be one of the world’s largest film lines and capable of producing some 36,000 tonnes of film annually.

The total investment in the first phase will be US$90 million and the plant is due to start commercial production in mid-2012.

Uflex already has two new 8.7m BOPET Film lines under installation in Mexico and Egypt, and a new coextruded cast propylene (CPP) Film line is commissioning in Egypt.
