ETI offers material savings

16 November 2006

In Canada, Toronto based printer A1 Label’s recent investment in an ETI Cohesio in-line silicone and adhesive coating line is said to have led to savings of 30 to 50 per cent in PS laminate material for the production of prime labels. According to ETI, the patented technology allows printers to be independent and to reverse print before coating the adhesive. More than 50 companies around the world are now using the technology.

Company president Francois Bayzelon says: “There are two types of label printers: the decorators and the label makers. Some prefer to stay with the traditional value chain, choosing to buy PS material at the market price and make ‘me-too’ products. Others are willing to manufacture PS in-house and realize the margins they had 20 years ago.”

ETI marketing manager Catherine Leveille adds: “It is not a coincidence that the major suppliers in wine labels, including the world leader, have invested in this equipment. Recently, one of the major beer label manufacturers in China - a new player in pressure sensitive labels – installed a line and supplied for a worldwide distributed beer brand.“
