Esko shows a wide range of large format and packaging applications at Expografica

Esko featured its large format Kongsberg C finishing system along with a wide range of automated prepress and preproduction solutions at the Soluciones para Impresores booth 842 during Expográfica, May 12-15, in Mexico City. Expográfica 2015, produced by ANIDIGRAF, has become the most comprehensive and significant graphic arts exhibition in the Spanish-speaking world.

"We are very happy to share a booth with our reseller in Mexico, Soluciones para Impresores. They have represented us well, particularly with our Kongsberg tabes, complementing their wide format digital installations," says Ernande Ramos, Vice President, Esko Latin America.

For more than 10 years, Soluciones para Impresores, based in Monterrey and Esko's reseller in Mexico, has been involved in the distribution of cutting-edge equipment for large format digital printing. Today Printers Solutions is the largest distributor for HP large format digital technology in Mexico; as well as selling Esko solutions in cutting and finishing equipment.

Kongsberg C60: A larger finishing table re-engineered for the 21st century
Esko showed the Kongsberg C digital finishing table with its 3.2-meter platform. One of the most noticeable new features is the innovative composite traverse technology that provides the fastest throughput along with the highest quality and precision in cutting and routing compared to all other systems of the same size. It provides the highest versatility for all sign, dis play and packaging applications. At Expografica, Esko demonstrated the Kongsberg C60 model. It has a work area of 3210x1600 mm to accommodate today's large format printing sizes, and can cut a variety of substrates, including corrugated, folding carton, flute, Gatorfoam, Foamcore, Sintra, and textile and magnet rolls-among others. Accompanying these solutions within a complete 'design to print to cut' workflow is the Esko i-cut Suite.

A number of components of Suite 14, the most complete collection of preproduction software tools for packaging, will also be featured:

Automation Engine: The heart of your prepress production
Automation Engine enables unparalleled workflow automation with rock-solid quality control. It takes the errors out of the process by allowing users to preset repetitive tasks and make automated decisions within the workflow. When operator interaction is required to ensure quality, the comprehensive checkpoint in the workflow allows for easy access. In addition, interfaces bet ween order administrative systems (MIS or ERP) and prepress production further reduce the manual interaction-extremely helpful for companies with web to print systems or both digital and flexo print capabilities. Using database driven job management, Automation Engine serves as the heart of any size prepress production operation.

WebCenter: True packaging management solution
WebCenter is a unique and powerful web-based platform that manages packaging pre-production specification, approval and project life cycle. WebCenter understands all aspects of successful packaging: its shape, the importance of brand colors and it offers control of all necessary content.

WebCenter allows users to manage all the complexities of creating packaging: from specification, design and execution. This management solution makes it easy to classify and organize all your packaging assets. WebCenter offers a highly secure solution that's easy to integrate with existing business systems, even in large enterprises.

ArtiosCAD: Unrivaled in structural packaging design
ArtiosCAD is the world's most popular structural design software for packaging design. With dedicated tools specifically designed for packaging professionals for structural design, product development, virtual prototyping and manufacturing, ArtiosCAD increases productivity throughout a company. It is the ideal product for all corrugated, folding carton and POP and display designers. Structura l design and graphic design integration with productions files eliminate costly mistakes downstream in the workflow. ArtiosCAD Enterprise is comprised of ArtiosCAD, connected to an enterprise database server powered by WebCenter. It enables dynamic, on-line collaboration between design groups, CAD and graphic designers, suppliers, brand owners and production-and fosters project collaboration, online approval and a faster response time.

Studio: Designing labels in a 3D world
Studio is a unique set of tools for 3D packaging design made specifically for packaging and label artwork professionals. Studio is a fast and easy way to turn ideas into better artwork and beautiful 3D images, for a designer's own inspiration, a prepress operator checking a back-match, or to impress a client- ranging from PDF files with 3D content to movies, hero shots or a virtual pack shot. To mo del the 3D shape of a package as fast and easily as possible, packaging-savvy Studio Toolkits each specialize in a specific type of packaging.

Studio Visualizer adds the finishing touch. Its patented dynamic print visualization can show a wide range of substrates, printing and finishing effects in real-time. Visualizer simulates the printing and finishing operations one by one, in the correct order, and on the right substrate, even for complicated luxury packaging. So what you see doesn't only look great, it's also technically feasible.

Users can also test the visual impact of the latest design in the environment where it all happens: the store, creating a virtual retail environment with Studio Store Visualizer. Brand owners can see new designs on the shelf next to the competition.

ArtPro: Packaging prepress software for Mac
ArtPro is a full-featured packaging preproduction editor offering unique technologies and dedicated tools focused on major pre-press pain points, such as CAD/graphics alignments, trapping, distortion, screening, and barcodes. It helps to drastically reduce the cost of errors and increase the efficiency of a Mac-based packaging preproduction department. ArtPro can be integrated in any packaging work flow, but due to a seamless integration with ArtiosCAD and Automation Engine, ArtPro turns Esko's packaging software into a complete and unbeatable packaging solution.

"The Kongsberg table received a lot of attention during Expografica," adds Ramos, "However, our software also impressed. It truly makes packaging, wide format and commercial printers much more effective, with value add collaboration and design features that help differentiate our customers from other companies."
