Esko enhances packaging and print workflow

Esko says its new Suite 12.1 includes "significant new functionality that further streamlines end-to-end workflows across the entire print and packaging supply chain". The new release includes updates of the company's flagship Suite 12 editing and automation software launched at Drupa 2012.

Offering enhancements "that will make work easier and more profitable for all stakeholders in the print and packaging supply chain", Suite 12.1 features standard workflow templates for typical applications such as folding carton, labels, and signs, to shortens the learning curve for less experienced users.

In prepress editors PackEdge or ArtPro, users can now define areas on a job for inline visual inspection systems. This is said to significantly reduce overall setup time for the press as the inline inspection system receives its setup data directly from Esko Automation Engine.

Also included in the new software are CombiPress Support; an Esko Viewer equipped with a barcode and Braille reader; and automation of Gang Runs for Flatbed Printers.

Esko plans to release Suite 12.1 from July 2013 onwards, and it will be available for existing customers.
