Envelope printing in the fast lane

4 October 2010

Winkler+Dünnebier says its new W+D 232 two-colour offset printing machine for envelopes and pockets ‘is geared to flexibility, fast set-up times and uncomplicated handling’.

This starts with the easily adjustable universal feeder and the aligner section for envelope formats from C7 to C4 – with or without windows – and continues with the extendable printing plate cylinders that facilitate the attachment of the plates.

Without having to change machine parts, the W+D 232 can print in 1-up operation (up to 42,000 units/hour) or in 2-up (up to 72,000 units/hour). Both print units are equipped with automatic, ‘dynamic-speed’ ink and dampening control and can be decoupled for single-colour printing. Large volume ink fountains with slotted inking blades and lever-zone operation are said to guarantee precise ink volume control and sufficient capacity for designs with considerable ink consumption and long-running jobs.

A 360° register raster adjustment system allows several designs to be placed on a single printing plate, reducing plate consumption and set-up times.

W+D says installation of the machine is ‘virtually plug & play’.
