Ensuring consistent Braille dot quality

25 March 2010

A new inspection system has ‘massively enhanced’ quality assurance checks on Braille text at Spanish pharmaceutical and healthcare cartons manufacturer Cartonplex, based near Barcelona.

The innovative DotScan technology from German company in-situ measures the height and position of Braille dots on cartons, to ensure that they comply with international standards. It complete the carton inspection process in less than two seconds per position, and is said to ‘practically eliminate error risks compared to traditional visual inspections’.

The DotScan investment follows Cartonplex’s recent expansion of its computer-to-plate capabilities with the installation of a Fuji V9600 printer and specialist high-performance software from Esko Graphics, to offer the latest anti-counterfeiting measures to its pharmaceutical customers.
