Enercon plasma system at Victrex

23 November 2007

Victrex Technology Centre in the UK has installed its first atmospheric plasma surface treating system. The Enercon’s Plasma3 surface treater at the Thornton Cleveleys site will enable downstream converting of the company’s Aptiv high performance film made from Victrex Peek polymer.

Victrex Aptiv is claimed to be the most versatile and high performing thermoplastics film available, with a proven track record in demanding applications including electronics, aerospace, acoustics, automotive, industrial, oil and gas, and chemical processing.

Plasma3 is said to have the ability to modify surfaces unresponsive to traditional treatment methods while completely eliminating backside treatment. Long lasting and significantly enhanced wettability, printability, and adhesion properties are promised for the treated surface.
