Enercon improves printing on Tyvek

20 July 2007

According to Enercon, recent customer trials confirm that its Plasma3 atmospheric plasma surface treater improves printing on a wide variety of materials used in the medical industry, including Tyvek. The Enercon technology is said to raise surface energy to improve ink adhesion while leaving physical, mechanical and barrier surface properties intact.

Atmospheric plasma treatment provides improved adhesion benefits without the risk of pinholing that can occur with traditional surface treatment methods the company states.

“Improvements for a variety of water based printing techniques have been observed,” it says. “However, the ability for Plasma3 to promote printing results with photoelectric inks used with digital presses is recognized as a breakthrough development.”
