End of line innovation by Laem System and Eutro Log

14 August 2013

Italian producer of slitter rewinders Laem System and handling equipment specialist Eutro Log united to present "the plant of the future" during a recent open house at Laem's site. More than 120 visitors witnessed the unveiling of the i.solution (integrated customized solutions), a new end of line production plant for converters.

They saw two TR4 high performance slitter rewinders, 'mirror placed', featuring turret rewinding and fully automatic positioning of knives and counter knives, with a special device to close the finished reels automatically. The TR4 is equipped with Linear Track technology: the machine's process area is mounted on additional frames that move backwards on linear guides during the winding procedure, minimizing the distance between the slitting and the rewinding point and holding it constant throughout the winding cycle.

To avoid bottlenecks in production, caused by the high volume output of the slitters, Eutro Log has developed a sophisticated handling system that is synchronised with the Laem machines.

Laem's robotised receiving tree is equipped with a pusher that positions the finished reels at the edge of the unloading shafts, where a Kuka robot collects them and places them one by one onto a conveyor belt for control, automatic labelling (inside the core and outside the reel with the final customer's barcode), automatic bagging and automatic palletisation.
