EDI boosts fluid die capabilities

23 June 2009

In the US, Extrusion Dies Industries (EDI) has expanded the micro-grinding facility at its Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, headquarters with new capabilities for the exceedingly flat surfaces required for the fluid coating dies in its Ultracoat and Liberty product ranges.

“Ultra-precise flatness is important for controlling the amount and distribution of the fluid applied to a substrate and is absolutely critical for coatings that must convey digital information or conduct electricity,” explains technical account manager Tim Marion. “This control can also lead to substantial raw material cost savings in applications involving high volumes or costly coating materials.

“At least as critical as lip flatness for the performance of a slot coating die is the role of the manifold in providing a uniform, consistent flow of material,” he continues. “EDI is prepared to supply fluid coating systems for every conceivable application.”
