Next year, UK narrow web flexo press manufacturer Edale will move from its site in Romsey to a new, custom built 4,650m2 factory 20 miles away in Whiteley, between Southampton and Portsmouth.
“The company’s development over the last 10 years has seen a major culture change,” explains managing director James Boughton. “From designing and manufacturing small to medium sized flexo presses, we have moved very firmly into the commercial security sector, with larger and more complex RFID and multi-layer machines.
“It is important that our image and brand positioning are reflected in our offices and factory, which we feel is not achieved in our current premises,” he says. “Our compact Alpha flexo press and modular in-line presses are still very popular with label printers. The demand for the Alpha and Beta models alone caused us to take on extra premises back in 2004. With our larger Lambda and, soon to be launched, Gamma presses also finding approval amongst printers and converters, we also needed to consolidate our production.”
Planning permission for the facility at Whiteley has already been granted and groundworks are said to be well under way.
