Economical narrow web splicing

18 October 2005

Martin Automatic claims its new narrow web MSL unit makes splicing technology "more affordable than ever" for converters, producers of disposable products, and OEMs. The cantilever MSL splice unit will splice most substrates including traditional non wovens, air laid non wovens, films, tissues and laminate webs.

The unit is designed for easy operator access and threading. It can be mounted in any orientation, making it ideal for retrofitting to existing unwind equipment. Completely self contained, it requires no external guarding or safety interlocks, and has a control system that requires only two pneumatic valves.

The MSL can be provided as part of a complete Martin Automatic splicing system or as a separate unit for integration by the customer. The standard unit, which provides taped overlapping splices, can also be equipped to provide heatseal lap splices for thermo bondable materials.

Martin has also introduced the ECP heat seal splice unit for use with its wide web automatic splicing unwinds. This can be ordered on new Martin splicing systems, and is also available as a retrofit to certain models.
