East Riding invests in Bobst press

5 September 2014

A new Bobst F&K 20SIX CS 8-colour CI flexo press for water based inks and coatings applied to quality paper based substrates is to be installed by East Riding Sacks (ERS) near York, UK, as part of a major investment programme.

The new press has a 1,300mm web width and will be equipped with the smartSET impression and registration system. This will provide automatic impression and registration setting of all print units on the press, offering rapid set-up "with significant savings on waste and energy". ERS managing mirector Rob Mabbett says: "This will allow us to consider profitable production of short run lengths".

The UK's largest independent sack manufacturer with current production capacity around 140 million sacks/year, ERS was one of the pioneers of double fold roll bottom sacks for packaging flour and similar products. The company is now well established in the valve sack market for cement, building products, chemicals and pigments.

The new Bobst machine will join an existing Fischer & Krecke FP-16S flexo press, processing large reels of high quality sack kraft.
