DuPont raises Cyrel prices

5 March 2008

Price increases of up to 6 per cent - depending on the product - across the entire range of Cyrel products will be implemented by DuPont Packaging Graphics from April 1, 2008, in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

“Cost improvement programmes allowed us to delay this action for as long as we could,” states Bjoern Meth, business director for DuPont Imaging Technologies Europe MEA. “Photopolymer plate cost is highly dependent on oil based feedstocks. Over the last five years we have aggressively pursued productivity and cost improvement plans to offset the nearly continuous increases in the cost of petroleum based raw materials and energy costs of manufacturing, warehousing and distribution.

“We will keep on working to offset cost increases, but we’re now at a point where we have no choice but to adjust the prices of our products if we are to maintain a healthy business.”

He reveals: “We will launch four new Cyrel plates in 2008 – two for use in conventional solvent processes and two Cyrel FAST – and introduce several major new system offerings at this year’s drupa”.
