DuPont drive to increase East European trade

11 March 2004

DuPont Imaging Technologies is sponsoring a project within the EU and several Accession Countries to build a pan European infrastructure of packaging printers, converters and tradeshops with business links among themselves and companies in other parts of the world. This initiative was launched at the first 'West Meets East' flexo and packaging conference in Moscow, last October.

"The principal goal of this ambitious project is to increase foreign direct investment in Eastern Europe, promote trade and strengthen cross-border co-operation," said Dr Paolo A Barbieri, business director DuPont Imaging Technologies EEMEA.

Marketing director Dr Matthias Heinzel added: "Faster than EU or US growth rates, dynamic retail markets, highly educated populations, technically skilled and relatively inexpensive wage costs, have been the compelling reasons for us to consider expanding eastward in Europe. Its potential makes it one of the world's most promising investment targets."

DuPont's 'Sponsor a Student at Moscow University' programme will enable western companies to invest in the education of flexo specialists in eastern Europe. It will give experienced industrial managers an opportunity to help and guide young eastern European students who will become the executives of the future in the region.
