With around 170,000m2 of net space and exhibitor numbers topping 1,800, drupa 2008 (May 29-June 11, 2008), will be the biggest ever. The size of the show means the Düsseldorf Trade Fair Centre’s full capacity will be used - including the recent new additions, Halls 8a and 8b.
According to the organizer, increases in leading international technology suppliers’ space requirements, plus larger scale joint presentations from Asia are major factors. Werner M Dornscheidt, president and ceo of Messe Düsseldorf, asserts: “The complete palette of the global market’s offerings and each link in the value chain, from design to the finished printed product, will be showcased here in Düsseldorf. Industry leaders and global players will share the floor with small, innovative companies at drupa.”
The registration results also reflect the industry’s development. “What is most striking is the rise in participation from suppliers of digital solutions,” comments drupa project director Manuel Mataré. “Compared to drupa 2004, this focal area will swell significantly and take on a key role in the fair’s overall concept.” The two new halls, 8a and 8b have a key role to play as they will primarily house exhibitors whose product portfolios hinge on digital solutions (e.g. HP-Indigo, Agfa-Gevaert, Fujifilm).
Hall 6 will house PrintCity, and paper converting and packaging will be focused in Halls 10 to 12.
“We want to support drupa visitors, and offer them assistance,” Manuel Mataré adds. “The launch of varied informative events at the last drupa was a great success. So plans are underway for the drupa innovation parc, for instance, which will serve as a forum for innovative new technologies.”
Also following a successful debut at the last show, drupa 2008 in co-operation with CIP4 will again set up a special area to introduce the latest developments in JDF.
