Doctor lives longer

5 July 2004

Daetwyler's new MDC Duraflife doctor blade for use in flexo printing is hardened and coated, with a thin, reduced tip claimed to give longer blade life without sacrificing printing quality. The proprietary coating on the blade is said to have been proven successful for use running highly abrasive inks such as titanium dioxide. The blade tip wears more slowly and evenly, making well suited for long runs, says MDC. Designed to reduce score lines, protect the anilox roller as well as prolonging roller and blade life, the Duralife is said to reduce press downtime and the need for blade changes.
