The dramatic growth in digital technology will again be reflected in the exhibits to be shown at drupa 2008. Show project director Manuel Mataré confirms: “What is most striking is the rise in participation from suppliers of digital solutions. Compared to drupa 2004, this focal area will swell significantly and take on a key role in the fair's overall concept. The two new halls, 8a and 8b, in the north of the fairgrounds have a key role to play as they will primarily house exhibitors whose product portfolios hinge on digital solutions, such as Xerox, HP-Indigo, Agfa-Gevaert, and Fujifilm.”
The digital theme will continue in the neighbouring Halls 5 and 9, where Kodak, Konica Minolta, and Ricoh will be among the exhibitors.
The drupa innovation parc will serve as a forum for innovative new technologies. Taking up all of Hall 7, it will cover workflow, publishing, PDF, and XML - also “poly-sectoral topics” which will be addressed in the print buyer integration parc.
Following the successful debut in 2004, drupa 2008 in co-operation with CIP4, the International co-operation for the Integration of Processes in Prepress, Press, and Postpress, will again set up a special JDF area. The JDF experience parc and JDF experience theatre parc, which will take up most of Hall 7, will introduce the latest developments in this field.
Manuel Mataré comments: “In 2008 we expect to see the market for JDF enabled products grow further. Many new products are anticipated, as well as features and options on new versions of well known systems and equipment.”
Converting Today is an official Media Partner for drupa 2008, which stages in Düsseldorf on May 29-June 11, 2008.
