Digital converter makes UK debut

6 October 2003

The first GRE Digital Converter to be installed in the UK is now in operation at All Labels, in Abingdon.

The Converter, which is manufactured jointly by GRE and VIPColor Technologies, is designed around the VIPColor four colour VP2020 using HP inkjet technology. It includes a lamination capability, Digicut die cutting, matrix and product reel rewinding to provide a complete tag label printing and converting system.

The system allows for sequential numbering and bar coding and is capable of speeds of up to 4,300 labels/hour with a web width of 15.4cm, according to GRE.

David Rogers, managing director, of All Labels, explains: "The Digital Converter is ideal for short runs where products are for consumer testing prior to volume manufacture, as well as low volume products and own brand labelling".
