Belfast, UK, based carton manufacturer Delta Packaging is investing a further $3M in its joint venture company in China, Hubei Delta Print and Packaging. Terry Cross, chairman of Delta, says the additional money will enable the joint venture to benefit from the latest European technology available in the packaging industry.
Founded in 1996, Huabei-Delta Print and Packaging operates from a purpose built 120,000ft2 site in Qian'an City and employs 360 people. It supplies solid board, corrugated and litho laminated cartons as well as paper-foam packaging to four of the world's top mobile phone manufacturers. The company also supplies pharmaceutical and electronics companies in China – and, says Terry Cross, "negotiations are well advanced with two major fast food chains".
He concludes: "This joint venture has had a positive impact on our Belfast operation by giving us international exposure and capability on two continents."
