Decurl diminishes sheeting waste

5 April 2004

Maxson offers a penetrating breaker roll decurl unit that can be retrofitted to existing rotary sheeters to reduce waste. It mechanically flattens the incoming web caused by roll set near the core to ensure flat sheets at the sheeter's pile, the company promises.

The decurl assemblies can be designed to accommodate multiple webs, ranging from 60-800g/m2 material. Each can be outfitted with various diameter breaker rolls that will flatten the web without damaging the surface of the material. Positioning the decurl penetration can be accomplished manually or automatically by the motorized controls provided.

The free standing assemblies are designed to fit easily between the infeed of the sheeter and the rollstand area, and are claimed to reduce roll waste by up to two per cent of total weight.
