DataLase labels deal with Schreiner MediPharm

26 July 2007

DataLase has sold its PACKMARK technology to Schreiner MediPharm to apply lot and bar codes on to pharmaceutical labels.

PACKMARK enables the company to produce labels where the variable information can be integrated into the design of the label, in keeping with the clinical look that is favoured on pharmaceutical labels.

Schreiner MediPharm is a leader in the development and manufacture of innovative labels with value-adding benefits for the pharmaceutical industry. Traditional laser marking systems ablate ink from a black patch to produce a negative image. PACKMARK uses a low power CO2 laser to produce a positive black image on acoating by causing a chemical colour change.

Peter Seidl, director of technical support at Schreiner MediPharm, says: “By replacing traditional marking systems with this solution we have managed to produce labels that are in keeping with the pharmaceutical style, while also achieving reductions in costs and time as well as increased production efficiency.”
