Curtis combats counterfeiters

Hidden Image, the latest security product from Curtis Fine Papers, can carry text or images that only appear when the sheet is viewed through a special verification lens. Because the image is embedded into the paper itself, Hidden Image papers and boards can be printed on and even wrapped in cellophane and the image will still appear through the lens.

Targeted at brand owners and organizations whose products are at risk from forgery, the new technology is suitable for use in high quality packaging applications such as cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, as well as swing tags, labels and security documents such as passports and visas.

Hidden Image can be applied to smooth, textured or coloured papers and boards in grammages ranging from 95-350g/m2. Customers can specify a paper that meets their corporate identity requirements in terms of colour, texture or special effects. The embedded image can also be customized to reflect corporate branding and logos. Additional security features can be incorporated for multiple levels of verification.

Ken Thom, technical sales director at Curtis Fine Papers, explains: “The Hidden Image technology is completely new in fine papers. It is an another solution for brand owners concerned about the impact of fraud on their business.”

The company has produced a promotional folder that contains printed samples of the technology in use on a certificate, swing ticket and cosmetic packaging, as well as product information.
