CRP chooses KBA technology to expand

24 August 2010

UK based CRP Print & Packaging’s new 9-unit (6-colour plus double coater) large format Rapida 162a will be KBA (UK)’s biggest sheet-fed press installation for several years. The press is expected to be in production in a dedicated BRC food contact press hall at CRP’s Corby site within the next two months.

The new press will feature the VariDryBlue system of IR/hot air dryers, launched at IPEX earlier this year. This system is designed to dry high gloss coatings ‘to a superior quality while reducing power consumption by as much as 50% – even at high production speeds’.

The double coating and VariDryBlue configuration was specified with the POS/POP and display sector in mind. CRP’s production team will work with KBA and prepress partner Kodak to achieve the ISO 12647-2 colour consistency standard when the new press and accompanying CTP systems are in production.
