Creo acquires US plate plant

11 March 2004

In the USA, Creo has acquired a printing plate manufacturing facility in Middleway, West Virginia, from Spectratech International for approximately $19.3M.

"With this acquisition," states Amos Michelson, Creo ceo, "we now have long run negative plate technology with superior on-press performance that complements the strengths of the Creo Positive Thermal Plate. We also gain many new thermal plate customers, most of whom already own Creo equipment."

The company will introduce a negative thermal plate based on the acquired technology for the commercial and packaging market. The Mirus is a high resolution, very long run thermal plate suitable for use with UV inks.
