Between 2007 and 2012, European CPP (cast polypropylene) film demand grew an average of 1.4 per cent per year, to reach 512,000 tonnes by 2012. A new report from Packaging Strategies forecasts that it will grow by an average of 1.3 per cent per year and reach 534,000 tonnes by 2017.
According to the report, flexible packaging applications for CPP films now account for 75 per cent of total European demand amid strong increases in volumes used in food packaging. Germany is Europe's largest producer and consumer, accounting for about 35 per cent of total regional production and 30 per cent of total regional demand.
