Coveris Labels Division receives top award for sustainability

Leading packaging manufacturer Coveris has been presented with the Energy and Environment Award at the Best Factory Awards hosted by Cranfield School of Management to celebrate manufacturing excellence in the UK.

Coveris is celebrating after receiving the honour of winning the Energy & Environment Award at the Best Factory Awards. The Best Factory Awards (BFA), managed by Cranfield School of Management, invite entries from UK manufacturing plants with the purpose of promoting and rewarding industrial excellence. The BFA 2016 Awards Ceremony took place on Friday 14th October at the National Motorcycle Museum and Conference Centre in Birmingham.

Criteria for the Energy & Environment Award included overall environment performance of the factory and sustainability playing an important role of the management strategy. Previous winners of this award include Bosch Thermotechnology, Valliant Group and Entek International.

Coveris' Lealand Way site in Boston, Lincolnshire took part in the Best Factory Awards, and is a printer of self- adhesive paper and flexible labels for fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) specialising in chilled foods and produce. The site was also nominated for Factory of the Year, and shortlisted in three further categories: Household and General Products Plant Award; Continuous Improvement Award and Supply Chain Award.

The competition is genuinely world class and to be amongst such high calibre manufacturing companies is a real honour for Coveris. The Energy & Environment Award presented to Coveris is a fantastic reflection of the commitment and dedication shown by employees and company approach through the Coveris Performance System to excellence, engagement and environmental performance in manufacturing. We look forward to being part of the Best Factory Awards again in 2017."

Tim Lennon, Environmental Services Manager (Labels Division) at Coveris, added: "To win the prestigious Energy & Environment Award at the Best Factory Awards is a great accolade. Our environmental services department integrates sustainable waste management and behaviour in to the daily operations of our label sites. Environmental performance is very important to us and we continuously look for ways to improve and innovate in the supply chain."

Coveris is also due to attend the renowned UK Packaging Awards on 27th October with entries shortlisted for Flexible Pack of the Year and Label of the Year.
