Corrugated show postponed

28 July 2005

Reed Exhibitions has postponed Corrugated 2006, due to take place alongside Converflex Europe and Grafitalia in Milan, next May. The company blames "poor demand for corrugated packaging throughout most of Europe, with little prospect for short term improvement, which has led to weak capital equipment investment by major integrated groups and independent box makers".

Exhibition director Jane Harris explains: "Whilst a large number of companies had supported our decision to relocate Corrugated 2006 alongside Converflex and Grafitalia, some of the major suppliers have reconfirmed that they are unable to commit to exhibit at an industry specific exhibition that they consider inappropriate at this time. Having postponed Corrugated '06, we will, together with the industry, re-assess the opportunity to bring 'Corrugated' back to Europe at a later date. The most likely timing for the next event would be May 2009, alongside Converflex Europe and Grafitalia."

The postponement of Corrugated 2006 will not affect the staging of Converflex Europe and Grafitalia in 2006.

Jane Harris says Reed Exhibitions remains fully committed to the corrugated sector. "With the continued strong growth of Asian markets, our marketing emphasis will now switch to the global opportunities presented by the upcoming Sino Corrugated exhibition in China during 2007. We will also continue to study new opportunities in developing markets," she concludes.
