Alliance Copapharm Europe has implemented Artwork Systems’ certified PDF technology PA:CT across its member company network. Trials began at German company August Faller in Waldkirch last August with a limited number of customers. The system has now been rolled out among other Copapharm members, which include Icesa, Pans and Cartonplex, in Spain, Packart and Rotanotice, in France, Palladio/Zannini, in Italy, Storey Evans, in the UK and Goldprint, in Belgium.
Copapharm marketing and sales co-ordinator Sylvia Wieloch says: “With the implementation of PA:CT we aim to meet several key requirements in the pharmaceutical prepress packaging workflow. These include a secure data process and traceability of all processes in the workflow. The use of extended preflighting enables us to achieve greater quality assurance and the increased level of automation possible with PA:CT reduces errors. Cost effectiveness is also an important requirement. We want to have this technology in all our European production sites to provide the best service to our customers, who include leading names within the pharmaceutical industry.”
Copapharm says certified PDF technology is used in many different workflows from a variety of vendors, but only ArtPro and Nexus from Artwork Systems in combination with PA:CT at packaging printer is complete traceability possible.
Thomas Wahl, prepress specialist at August Faller, says: “PA:CT has broken down the boundaries between design and production, and created a controlled and consistent workflow.”
