Astec Conveyors recently designed and manufactured a further heavy duty modular flat belt conveyor system for a leading corrugated board manufacturer to transport stacks of board weighing up to 1,000kg each.
Astec says the use of plastics modular belting as an alternative to conventional roller conveyor provides solid support for transportation, dramatically improving the stacks' stability. The heavy duty conveyor side frames are constructed from powder coated mild steel or stainless steel to suit the environment and give a solid and robust structure.
The conveyor is powered by geared motor unit with inverter control to ensure smooth movement of loads and significantly decrease the stack distortion which sometimes occurs when conveying narrow stacks over roller conveyor.
