Contego keeps its cool with Technotrans

16 April 2012

UK pharmaceutical carton plant Contego Packaging has specified a Technotrans beta.c.220 temperature control system for the ink and dampening system on its latest 3b (B1) 6-colour and coater press.

“This unit controls temperature and ensures that our quality and productivity is optimised and that the ink-water balance is correct,” says Bill Thomas, operations manager of the Fareham-based company. "It means that the ink tack is exactly right and the dampening clean and cool for the best printed results. Having the ink and dampening controls in a single unit has made an enormous difference to the energy usage and helps us reduce our carbon footprint which is an issue we take very seriously.”

All beta.c units are equipped with the softflow filtration system; a contamination sensor signals when a filter change is required. Fresh water and dampening solution drain points are said to allow easy cleaning.
