Container coating cuts out scuffing

7 December 2005

Michelman says its Nomar Series coating for corrugated shipping containers eliminates the common abrasion that occurs between the inside of the container and the packaged items while in transit, ensuring goods are scratch-free upon arrival.

"The need for abrasion resistance has increased dramatically as recycled fibres replace softer virgin kraft fibres," says Michelman. "Furthermore, painted products, which are often packed less than fully cured, require closer attention to non scuff coating choice and application."

The coatings are said to be environmentally friendly due to their water based composition. While not recommended for skid resistance and water resistance protection, they are FDA approved and can withstand the heat of corrugation, will not transfer on to the packaged items, and are gluable with most water based and hotmelt adhesives.
